Secret Shop

I love me some vintage goodies, but don't often have time to do serious thrifting. I often find myself scouring ebay and etsy for cool duds. It's much easier for me to determine the wearability of a vintage piece if I can see it on a person v.s. a ramshackle rack or bin to be sifted through. Taking it one step further is the lookbook. Granted you can't really shop from a vintage lookbook as the pieces are one of a kind, but it does whisk me away to a happy place and give me inspiration for shopping the other items available and styling them in my own way. Love these images from Secret Shop's lookbook. Bonus points: the newest features Frankie Raydar.

flea market porn...

This will probably be an ongoing collection of flea market porn, as I visit this market (ok, more antique, than flea) monthly. Who am I kidding, this is literally the highlight of my month. Hunting for treasure makes me feel like a child anticipating toys on Christmas morning (or in my case, art supplies, more art supplies and books. Yes, I was one of those kids)

It's my heaven.

my finds this time...

It wasn't until I got home that I realized I'm on a definite American Southwest kick. Ya think?

Mika likes Vintage Pendleton too.

factory 20...

can easily suck up an hour of my day. Minimum.

This site is like the best virtual antique sale ever. Furniture, decor, art and general oddities are exquisitely staged , photographed, and up for sale. Yes, it's very expensive. And yes, you could probably find many of these items at a deep discount scouring thrift stores, craigslist and yard sales making them good as old/new again with some elbow grease. But, will you actually follow through? If yes, then good for you. If not, then save your pennies darlings, because you never know when you'll just HAVE to have a ready-made vintage light bulb collection or a paint-by-number jesus canvas. Love.

i'm pining for....

a faux fur coat. If it's vintage, all the better. It could be spotted, white, grey, black or multi-colored. It must fit well, but appear oversized. Worn with black tights, an ethereal dress and tough worn-in boots, it's love.
I've come oh so close to the perfect find at several thrift stores, but the problem always lies in the fit. It seems that someone petite in stature has always just been through and taken all the versions for us folks slight in frame. Oh, the quest continues.
